What we cover
Four things, all inside San Francisco city limits: a calendar of what is on, from gallery openings and poetry readings to tastings, markets and music; guides to doing specific things well; a directory of galleries, museums, coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, parks and playgrounds; and a profile of each of the city’s 18 neighborhoods. We do not cover the wider Bay Area except where a trip genuinely starts here, such as the Sausalito ferry or Muir Woods.
Who it is for
People who live here and want to know what is on this week, people who have just moved and cannot work out why it is cold in July, parents planning a Saturday, and visitors who want to know whether Fisherman’s Wharf is worth it. Families are one of the audiences we write for rather than the only one, and events that are 21+ are labelled as such. Everything is written to answer the question you actually asked, near the top of the page.
How we make money
At the moment, we do not. There are no ads, no affiliate links and no paid inclusion in the directory. If that changes, it will be disclosed on this page and labelled on the pages it affects, and it will never determine what we recommend.
How often it is updated
The events calendar is reviewed twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, and events are removed or corrected when official sources change. Guides carry the month they were last fact-checked at the bottom of the page, and seasonal guides are rewritten each year rather than recycled.
Tell us when we are wrong
Prices change, restaurants close, ferries get rerouted. If something here is out of date, send us a note and we will fix it and say so. Our full method is on the editorial standards page.
