Glen Park
A village-sized neighborhood beside a wooded canyon, with its own BART station.
Glen Park sits next to Glen Canyon Park, a 66.6-acre recreation area run by San Francisco Recreation and Parks. The city lists the canyon as one of its Significant Natural Resource Areas. The park has hiking trails, open space, a creek and native chert outcroppings, along with a children’s playground and a recreation center with a gymnasium and an auditorium. You can enter the park from O’Shaughnessy Boulevard or Elk Street.
The neighborhood has its own BART stop: Glen Park Station, at 2901 Diamond Street, with trains toward SFO/Millbrae and Antioch among others. Muni’s J Church light rail stops at San Jose Avenue and Glen Park Station. The Glen Park Branch Library, down the street at 2825 Diamond Street, opened in its current building on October 13, 2007. The station, the library and the canyon trails together make an easy half-day outing with kids.

About Glen Park
Glen Park is a small, village-like neighborhood around Diamond and Chenery streets, with Glen Park BART station at its edge.
Next door is Glen Canyon Park, a steep wooded canyon with trails, a creek, a playground and a recreation center.
Our neighborhood lines are based on DataSF's Analysis Neighborhoods, adjusted where visitors use a smaller area or a different name: Dogpatch and Fisherman's Wharf stand on their own, and the Richmond and the Sunset are each kept whole.
What to See
Glen Canyon Park
A canyon park with a 3.7-mile trail network along Islais Creek, plus a playground, ball fields, tennis courts, picnic area and rec center. Trails are steep and unpaved in places, so stroller routes are limited.
Billy Goat Hill Park
A small hilltop park with a lookout toward the Bay Bridge and downtown, two big eucalyptus trees and a short network of dirt trails and stairs. Paths are steep, so it suits kids who hike more than strollers.
Glen Park Greenway
A planted creekside path along the old Islais Creek banks that links the Diamond Street village and BART with Glen Canyon Park. It is a volunteer-run project, and its association holds work parties several times a year.
Things to Do
Glen Canyon Park Playground
Accessible playground with an embankment slide, a dome climbing structure, natural boulders and a sandbox, plus a drop-off area at the Elk Street entry. It sits beside the rec center and the trailheads into the canyon.
Creek to Peaks Trail
A 1.2-mile trail that follows Islais Creek and climbs toward Twin Peaks, with views of the city and the Bay. Good for kids used to hiking; it gains elevation, so plan a slow pace and an easy downhill return.
Glen Park Branch Library
Neighborhood library with toddler and baby storytimes (a Tuesday 11 am session was listed for October) plus workshops for older kids and teens. Open Sunday afternoons and closed on Mondays.
Where to Eat
Gialina
Casual pizzeria on Diamond Street with a $12 kids pizza on the pickup menu; regular pizzas run about $19 to $26. Open daily 5 to 9 pm, with Resy reservations and possible waits for walk-ins at peak times.
Glen Park Cafe
Daytime breakfast and lunch cafe, open 8 am to 2:30 pm Sunday and Tuesday through Saturday and closed Monday. On the same block as the library and a short walk from Glen Park BART.
Canyon Market
Neighborhood grocery with a coffee bar, a deli making sandwiches and prepared foods, handy for picking up a picnic before heading into Glen Canyon. Check its hours first.
