What We Can Help With
- Data for a story. Our San Francisco, by the Numbers datasets cover business openings and closings, closed and moved places, museum prices and free days, parks, street fairs and more. Headline figures, sources and citation formats are on Data for Journalists, and we can re-cut any of them for a neighborhood or category and send the query so you can check it.
- “What’s on” and seasonal round-ups. Our events calendar, this weekend page and seasonal guides are checked against organizers’ own pages. We are happy to point you to events worth covering, with the official link for each.
- A second check. If you are unsure whether a place is still open or an event is really happening, ask. We check closures against the city’s business register by address, and we will tell you what we know and what we could not confirm.
How We Work
Every event, price and opening time comes from the organizer’s, venue’s or agency’s own page. Press coverage is used only to corroborate, and we say so when we use it. If something is not published, we say it is not published rather than guess. Corrections are made on the page and dated. The full method is on our editorial standards page.
We do not do link swaps, and we do not offer embargoes or exclusives: everything is published as soon as it is checked.
About the Publisher
