Outdoors in San Francisco

Upcoming outdoor events in San Francisco: park concerts, festivals, guided walks, open streets days, outdoor markets and seasonal celebrations. Each listing links to the organizer's own page and shows the date we last checked it, and only upcoming dates are shown. Weather in the city changes fast, so check the organizer's page on the day.

Some outdoor favorites are permanent or come back every year. In Golden Gate Park, the JFK Promenade is a stretch of JFK Drive that San Francisco Recreation and Parks keeps vehicle-free permanently, so visitors of all ages and abilities can use the roadway free of car traffic; a car-free route there has existed since 1967. Sunday Streets, the city's open streets program, turns miles of streets into car-free community spaces. The Stern Grove Festival holds free summer concerts at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard, and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass brings a free music weekend to Golden Gate Park in early October. Downtown, the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival runs free outdoor performances from May through October.
