Saxophonist and singer Richard Howell marks the centennial of John Coltrane’s birth with an acoustic quartet of tenor saxophone, piano, bass and drums, playing in the Coltrane tradition with a contemporary take. Howell, who has performed with Etta James, calls his approach “Bridge Music”.
The free hour-long Thursday lunchtime concert is part of the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival; no RSVP is needed. Good for jazz fans and families on a downtown lunch break.
