Named for the baseball legend who grew up nearby, this busy rec complex has an accessible playground, picnic area, bocce, tennis and basketball, plus the North Beach Pool next door.
Washington Square
The grassy heart of North Beach, across from the twin spires of Saints Peter and Paul Church, and perfect for picnics with takeout from nearby bakeries. Its renovated playground helps burn off energy between snacks.
Ocean Beach
A 3.5-mile sweep of sand for kite flying, sandcastles and long walks, with September and October often the sunniest months. Strong currents make swimming unsafe, so stay at the water’s edge.
Stern Grove Playground
