European paintings, Rodin bronzes and the ancient galleries are free to everyone on the first Tuesday of the month. The colonnaded courtyard and the Lincoln Park bluffs outside are worth the trip on their own. Special ticketed exhibitions are not included.
Correction, 5 October 2026: this listing showed a free first Tuesday on October 6. The Legion of Honor now says it is closed October 6–8, so there is no free day that week; the next free first Tuesday is November 3.
