Left 49 Geary for a large pier building at Fort Mason, which makes it one of the few galleries you can fold into a waterfront walk. Long-running program of conceptual and environmentally engaged work, plus Chinese contemporary artists.
The best of the commercial galleries for a family, and the setting is why: an open-air campus with room to run about, the gallery as one stop rather than the whole outing. Tuesday to Saturday 10.30am–5.30pm.
