Lit Crawl SF 2026

Litquake’s closing night and, by its own description, the largest free pop-up literary event in the world: dozens of short readings running simultaneously in timed phases across Mission bars, cafes, galleries, bookshops, tattoo parlours and laundromats. You walk between them.

Alcohol and age policy: the crawl is free and there is no single age limit, but the venues differ. Bar stops serve alcohol and will be 21+; bookshops, cafes and galleries are generally all ages. Litquake publishes the 2026 venue list and phase times closer to the date, so check the specific reading before planning to bring kids. Litquake’s official schedule lists it as 5pm to 9pm; the venue list and the times of each round are published closer to the date.

Correction, 17 September 2026: this listing previously gave an end time of 10pm. Litquake had not published an end time, so we removed it.

Update, 18 September 2026: Litquake’s official schedule now lists 5pm to 9pm, and we have added that end time.
