Helgi Tomasson’s Nutcracker, with SF Ballet’s own orchestra, follows Clara from her Victorian-era San Francisco home through an onstage blizzard to the Crystal Palace and the Sugar Plum Fairy. 35 performances from Dec 4 to Dec 27 (no Mondays or Christmas Day), about 2 hours with one intermission; SF Ballet recommends it for ages 5 and up and admits no children under 3.
