Chase Center with Kids: Warriors and Valkyries Games, Bags, Transit and Tips

Mission Bay’s Chase Center is home to the Warriors and the Valkyries, and it is one of the easier big venues in the city to do with kids, as long as you know the rules before you leave the house: no backpacks, no outside food or water bottles, and no re-entry once you are in.

Before You Go

Tickets and Babies

Children under 24 months get in without a ticket if they sit on the lap of an adult with a valid ticket. Everyone older needs their own seat.

First Game? Get the Certificate

If it is your child’s first Warriors game, stop at a Guest Services kiosk at Portal 13 or Portal 53 for a free First Game Certificate. The same kiosks hand out Kid ID wristbands, where you write a parent’s contact details in case you get separated. Worth doing for any child who might wander.

Bags: The Rule That Catches Families Out

Every bag, including diaper bags and purses, must be no bigger than 14 x 6 x 14 inches. Backpacks are not allowed, except single-compartment drawstring bags and one-compartment fashion backpack purses. Bags do not have to be clear. A diaper bag that fits the size limit is fine; it gets searched and tagged.

If you arrive with something bigger, you can check it at the Bike Valet on Terry A. Francois Blvd or at the Chase Center bag check, each for a $10 donation to the Golden State Community Foundation (the arena says the amount can change).

Getting There

Your Ticket Is a Free Muni Pass

Your Chase Center event ticket doubles as an all-day Muni ticket. The T Third Street line stops at the arena, with extra trains on event days, and the 78X bus runs from 16th St Mission BART starting two and a half hours before events and until an hour after. BART, Caltrain and the Ferry

From BART, get off at Powell St or 16th St Mission and transfer to the T or the 78X. From Caltrain, transfer to Muni at the San Francisco station or walk about 20 minutes. Coming from the East Bay, SF Bay Ferry runs event service from Oakland and Alameda to Pier 48 for every home game, which kids tend to enjoy as much as the game.

Bikes

The Bike Valet is free, opens an hour before the event and closes an hour after it ends. Helmets are not allowed inside the arena, but the valet will check them for free.

Inside the Arena

Strollers

Strollers are allowed in, and you can check yours at the Guest Services kiosks near Portals 13 or 53 during the game.

Food and Water

No outside food or drinks, and reusable water bottles are not allowed either. There are water fountains around the concourses, including at Portals A, B, 8, 12, 20, 24, 42 and 59. For allergies or dietary needs, the arena asks you to email guest experiences ahead of time.

Sensory Support

Chase Center partners with KultureCity. There are two Wellness Rooms, the Simu Liu Wellness Room near Portal 12 and the Draymond Green Wellness Room near Portal 59, and you can rent a sensory bag with noise-canceling headphones and fidget toys at the Guest Services kiosks near Portals 13 and 53 (you leave an ID and get it back when you return the bag).

No Re-Entry

Once you leave during an event you cannot come back in, so plan the bathroom and snack runs inside, and do not step out for air with a tired toddler unless you are done for the night.

Thrive City: The Free Part

The plaza outside the arena, Thrive City, is free to walk into and runs its own calendar of events: lunchtime live music, fitness classes, and watch parties for Valkyries and Warriors away games on the big plaza screen, first come, first served. It is a good way to get the game-night atmosphere with a small child without buying a seat. The Golden State 5K starts outside Chase Center on Sunday, April 4, 2027.

Which Games to Pick

The Warriors play three preseason home games in October 2026: the Lakers on Tuesday, October 6, the Kings on Saturday, October 10, and the Trail Blazers on Friday, October 16. The regular-season home opener is Friday, October 23 against the Memphis Grizzlies at 7pm. The Valkyries play their home games at Chase Center from May through August.
