A bay cruise is the easy way onto the water without landing anywhere. Blue and Gold Fleet lists a one-hour San Francisco Bay Cruise, a 90-minute cruise around Alcatraz, a 30-minute RocketBoat ride and a sunset cruise, with tickets at the PIER 39 box office.
Alcatraz closure: the National Park Service closed Alcatraz Island to visitors from October 26 to November 18, 2026 for dock repairs (read October 28, 2026; see our Alcatraz visit guide). This note hides itself after November 18.
Facts below come from the Blue and Gold Fleet website, read on November 3, 2026.
| Cruise | What the site says |
|---|---|
| San Francisco Bay Cruise | One hour; no price listed on the page we read |
| Escape from the Rock Cruise | 90 minutes around Alcatraz Island; no price listed |
| RocketBoat | 30 minutes past the PIER 39 sea lions, the waterfront and the Bay Bridge, starting at $31; links to a separate site, and the page does not say whether $31 is the adult fare |
| Sunset Cruise | Listed with no duration or price |
Tickets can be bought at the Box Office at PIER 39, open daily from 10:00 a.m. until dusk. The company’s phone number is 415-705-8200. A cruise around Alcatraz is not a landing on the island; for the island itself see our Alcatraz visit guide.
What We Could Not Confirm
- Prices for every cruise except RocketBoat’s “starting at” figure, and which fare is the adult fare.
- Schedules, season and which pier each cruise leaves from: the page names the PIER 39 box office but not each departure pier.
- Whether the Escape from the Rock cruise runs during the Alcatraz closure: the page says nothing about it. Ask the operator.
- Health, safety and accessibility details: not researched; ask the operator.
