Castro Halloween is a street celebration on 18th Street in the Castro. The only official record we could read is SFMTA’s page for 2026: 18th Street was closed between Noe and Diamond streets from 11 a.m. Saturday, October 31, to 1:00 a.m. Sunday, with every cross street left open.
The 2027 event is not announced. This page tells you what was confirmed for 2026 and what was not, so you can plan once dates are out.
Read on sfmta.com, castromerchants.com and castronightmarket.com on 3 November 2026. SFMTA’s page is marked as an older record of the 2026 service.

Muni and Closure Details From SFMTA, 2026
- The 33 Ashbury/18th Street rerouted around the event from 11 a.m. through the end of service. Inbound it skipped stops at 18th and Noe, Castro and Eureka; outbound it skipped 18th and Castro, Noe and Sanchez. SFMTA listed alternate stops, including Market and Castro.
- The 24 Divisadero and 35 Eureka could see minor delays.
- Temporary no parking on the east side of Sanchez from 16th Street to 20 feet south, and on the west side of Diamond from 18th Street to 20 feet north, to give Muni vehicles room to turn.

Step-Free and Muni Notes
Around 18th Street
- Muni Metro’s Castro Street station is one of the underground stations SFMTA says has street-to-concourse and concourse-to-platform elevators.
- Could Not Confirm: whether 2026 closures left curb ramps, accessible drop-off or seating usable. SFMTA’s page lists service changes only.
- Could Not Confirm: accessibility arrangements by the event organizers.
Muni Metro and BART, Step-Free
- Muni Metro underground stations are reached by elevators from street to concourse and concourse to platform (SFMTA).
- Every BART station has accessible elevators and wider fare gates, and each train car has a wheelchair area (BART).
- Cable cars are not equipped with accessible boarding (SFMTA).
- Could Not Confirm: boarding on Muni buses and historic streetcars. The SFMTA pages we read did not say. Our access page lists what we did read.
- Check Muni Metro elevator status before you leave. If one is out, tell a station agent or call 311.
What We Could Not Confirm
- The 2027 date. October 31, 2027 is the holiday itself, but no organizer or city page has announced an event.
- Whether the street event repeats at all in 2027, its hours, and whether any part is ticketed. A news site reported 2026 as free from 5 to 10 p.m.; the SFMTA page does not give event hours, and the Castro Night Market page we read does not mention Halloween (it says its monthly market returns in March 2027).
- Who the organizer is. The Castro Merchants Association and the Castro Night Market are the names that came up; we did not find either one confirming the 2026 Halloween event on its own pages.
- Crowd size, bag or costume rules, and safety arrangements. We read none from an official source.
